that I give you for free.

In
something like 25% of the cases of CBD/CBS diagnosed based on symptoms,
the actual physical cause-- the changes in the brain-- are very much
the same as those found in Alzheimer's disease. However, instead of
causing typical AD symptoms, they cause CBS symptoms. Some symptoms to
look for that might indicate underlying "AD pathology" are: loss of
sense of smell, myoclonus, seizures. Unfortunately, there is no sure
way of knowing without a brain biopsy or autopsy, both of which are
rather undesirable.
Cinnamon seems to help people with classic Alzheimer's disease. I
suspect it would only help those CBS patients with "CBS-AD", but since
you don't know if you are dealing with that or not, it makes sense to
me to try it. For people with AD, 1000mg 2 or 3 times per day is used.
Positive results begin to appear after about 4 weeks, and subtle
improvements are noticed for the next 3 or 4 months. There are
different types of cinnamon from different species of cinnamon plants.
Cassia or Chinese cinnamon is the most common type found in the U.S.
Unfortunately, it contains some chemicals, such as coumarin, that may
not be good to consume in large quantities for prolonged periods.
Ceylon cinnamon has very little coumarin in it, so it would be the
better choice. It is a little more difficult to find and is more
expensive. Water-soluble extracts leave the coumarin behind, so this
may be an option.
Other strategies for treating Alzheimer's disease may also be
beneficial to someone with CBS-AD. Do some research on topics like
"ketones", "medium chain triglycerides" (MCT), coconut oil, TNF-alpha,
Helicobacter pylori, Dr. Mary Newport, ketone esters, curcumin,
niacinamide, grape seed extract, vitamin B-12 deficiency, aphanizomenon
flos-aquae (AFA), glucose hypometabolism, mitochondrial dysfunction,
just to name a few.
Here are the "tau busters" I know about in the order I found out about
them:
1. Cinnamon proanthocyanidins
2. methylene blue (Rember)
3. niacinamide (nicotinamide)
4. grape seed extract
5. davunetide
6. Nypta
7. Valproic acid (VPA, Depakote)
Your major enemies are the consequences of immobility (bed sores,
urinary tract infections, blood clots) along with the inability to
report the symptoms of other undiagnosed illness.
My advise is, don't give up. Though you are battling an undefeated foe
that frustrates even the best neurologists, you will find new research
and new ideas every week. Use the power of the Internet and search,
search search. I doubt that the physicians have time to keep up on the
news, so something you find in an obscure medical journal may become
enormously important. In the old days, only the elite academics with
access to the libraries of major universities would have access to the
latest information. But today, with tools like Google and PubMed, you
have greater access to information and networking with others than the
researchers of old. I'm not saying that it will be easy to understand
what you read, but because of your motivation, you can read a research
paper or article and pick up a few concepts and key words. Then you
read another, and pick up a few more things. In time, what you read
will begin to make sense, and you may even see patterns from your
overview that the professionals have overlooked. Guaranteed? No. If you
buy a lottery ticket, are you guaranteed to win? No. But if enough
people buy a ticket, someone eventually does.
